Summary: Collection consists of materials acquired by J. Richard Salazar in his capacity as a member of the Santa Fe National Historic Trail Advisory Council (1987-1991). The Council was established by Congress in 1987 to consult with the Secretary of the Interior on the documentation, development, plan and designation of the Santa Fe Trail as a National Historic Trail. Collection includes minutes, council membership appointments, correspondence, newsletters, pamphlets and press clippings on the Santa Fe Trail, a draft and review of the Santa Fe National Historic Trail comprehensive use plan, public comments on the plan, and an interpretive prospectus.
